Welcome to the Shipwreck House! The Glenesslin, with its proud portrait hanging over the fireplace, came aground on the rocky coastline near Nehalem, Oregon. This home has pieces of the reclaimed wood from the original ship, giving the home its name. With masterful views of the rocks and ocean beyond, it’s easy to see what the sailors of yore experienced! The Shipwreck House is just south of the wonderful village of Yachats and offers a unique floor plan for the adventurous. Enter through the front door in to the living area with windows across the west side of the house, a large dining area, kitchen and breakfast nook.
The staircase from the living room goes up to the first of two sleeping areas. This second floor space has two bedrooms and a bath, both with queen beds. The second staircase, next to the kitchen, leads to a wonderful sitting area with expansive views to the north and west, including the lights of Yachats at night. This sitting room includes two sleeper sofas, flat screen television and is next to another bedroom with a king bed and a shared bathroom. Back downstairs on the main level, there is a master suite with views to the south as well as an ensuite bathroom.
The Shipwreck House is just minutes away from Cape Perpetua, Heceta Head Lighthouse, and the wonderful restaurants and art galleries in Yachats. Inside, you can stay entertained with a ping pong table, a shuffleboard and an assortment of board games.

Stunning property. Beautiful views and beautiful location. The house is quirky but has everything you could want, lots of comfy beds and AMAZING views. Check in and communication from property manager was great.

We had a little issue when first attempting to use the key code but the property managers answered right away and helped us navigate the issue. The house was huge and very inviting. We had 4 couples that had all our own privacy. Great experience and will definitely be staying again. The view was just as magestic as the photos depicted.

We had a lovely time and wish we had more time. From trail running to board games, this house was the perfect family home base.

Great location! It was somewhat isolated, but still very close to many sights such as Thor's Well, Cape Perpetua, etc. The house was set up so as to allow us to be together when we wanted to be, but gave us the option of having some privacy as needed. The view from the house is amazing! We had a front row seat to many of the oceans moods (stormy, sunny, foggy, clear). It was all we asked for and more. Definitely a "quirky" house. You will never see another just like it!

We had a great time watching the powerful waves crashing on the rocks, and exploring the tidal pools at low tide. Extraordinary views and experiences.

Thank you so much for having this special beach house for rent I know how much a rental can take Your Shipwreck house is amazing! The woodwork is so cool and custom! And the location could not be better!! The Shipwreck is a shining gem on the Oregon coastline. The entire family had a great time over the 2021 Labor Day! I try to get these family get-to-gethers at the least 3-4 times a year. It is somewhat difficult to find property that allows ALL of the family. Even the furry ones! Too bad though that every renter you get doesn't have their fur buddies groomed (nails clipped!) prior to using their home!? Thanks again We totally enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon.

The house has an amazing location with a great view and easy access to the rocky beach. This location is great for those with pups and who only want to take steps to let them run on the rocky/sandy shore. We saw tons on seals on the rocks nearby and the dogs had the best time splashing in the tide pools. The house is fun to explore as there are some quirky doors and access ways within the property and the house is ideally set up for a group of five couples. Everyone in our family said that their room was very quiet even when other family members were up, so this location is ideal for a group setting. The house was clean and there was plenty of space for all. All in all, this is a great location and we would happily stay there again in the future. Thanks for all the staff that made this a great trip for all of us.

Our overall impression of the property was excellent. It's a large house so it takes a bit of time to learn and to work with its quirks. This process was part of the fun for those who live in all too efficient big city apartments. The house is well sealed/not drafty and was kept a comfortable 70 degrees. This was important for the coolish and windy July weather. Two suggestions to make for a better user experience. (1) window cleaning, say a bucket, ammonia with a sponge/squeegee and terry clothes - for the first floor. We washed sea mist off the windows three times in a week. And, (2) a wide strong broom to sweep pebbles off of the driveway asphalt - we greatly improved our car traction by sweeping the loose gravel into the pothole. That said, we wanted to keep the first floor picture windows clean to better watch the dramatically breaking surf, the unobstructed views to the north and the south and out to sea, the early morning occasional deer, and the rookery in front of the house (sea gulls, cormorants, pigeon guillemots, pelicans and harbor seals). The basalt ledge beach and tidal pools were a daily delight to explore. The house was selected as a hub to visit the central Oregon coastal area. It proved to be an excellent decision - south as far to Coos Bay and north to New Port. And a comfortable place to rest and read. Yachats was an unexpected delight - attractive and with notable food: Bread and Roses, Luna and Green Salmon & Tea. The Farmers Market excellent local grown and field ripe fruit. We wanted ocean front property with unobstructed & spectacular views, with ready access to tidal pools, a sense of seclusion and comfort - we got four out of four.

You can not really beat this location with it's beautiful sunsets, access to tide pools, and enough green space for the dogs to run and play. We had a nice relaxing weekend and would 100% stay here again if we find ourselves in Yachats. We even had an otter come by to check on us, which helped add to the aesthetic of being tucked away in nature.

My husband, 21 year old daughter, 17 year old son, our Cavalier pupper and I stayed 4 nights at Shipwreck house in January 2021. It was one of the best short vacations we have ever had! ***VIEWS!!!*** The home is located right above a rocky beach and the views were incredible!!! We loved the feeling of being "isolated" while still being just a mile or so south of Yachats. We didn't go anywhere the first full day we were there as watching the waves crash into the rocks was incredibly exciting as well as being peaceful. The Wi-Fi was a tad spotty in the house, but one of the upstairs bonus rooms housed the router, so we could connect when we had to. I don't think my daughter even used the internet once because she enjoyed reading her book in front of the picture window.
It was easy to access the rocky beach and just south of the home seals congregated. It was a blast watching them, and one day I will have to look up why they lifted their back flippers up when the waves spilled over them. ??? They definitely watched our 25-pound pupper, even though the beast was across a rocky finger from their area.
It was everything I want when I actually make it on vacation! Semi-isolated location, full kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms (and an interesting space off the master bath that had two twin beds in it), living room, and two bonus areas. This house just went on and on, and was actually too big for us, but everyone enjoyed being able to retreat to their own space after too much family togetherness. :)
It is an older home, but it had hot water, got warm quickly, and the bed in the master was so comfortable that I slept super well. I loved the character and charm of the house, and the revolving U-shaped chairs by the picture window in the dining/living room were fantastic for watching the waves! We will definitely go back to Shipwreck house in the summer so that we can explore more and do some hiking.

Had an amazing time at the Shipwreck house. Its a beautiful and comfy place to spend some quality time with your loved ones and enjoy the ocean view and if the climate is in your favor you can sit out for hours and enjoy.

Great home for a reunion of friends coming from around Oregon.
This home is spacious and clean and has fantastic views. The beds were really comfortable and the hosts were helpful and readily available.

Everything we could want
Location, location, location. Is near the water, but not too close. Crashing waves, tide pools and enough sand for kids to play. And a great deck too - morning sun on the south side and evening light on the north side. For decades, we (3 families, 3 kids, & a dog) rent someplace different every Holiday season, except now we're coming back here because it's just right for us. The house is older but big, with 2 suites and 3 extra bedrooms, not counting couches and the basement. If you want modern, only the suites will keep you happy, but we enjoyed the wood, big dining room table, giant windows, garage playroom, and large area in the living room. The kitchen is small, but well equipped, although the utensil drawers are a bit awkward. The manager offered to give us a personal orientation, and was very responsive by texting.

A time with family for Christmas-two families that come together as one.
The house was nicely broken up where each of our families could have our own areas to "getaway." However, the open area was bright, beautiful, and nice to connect with the family. The Dramatic Views are exactly right; beautiful, relaxing, and a nice porch to listen to the waves from etc.
