Zen House is a peaceful retreat in an excellent location. Japanese accents throughout the home, particularly in the spacious downstairs bathroom, distinguish this home from other beach rentals. This home is ideal for four people. The layout makes it easy for people to find private spaces. Outdoors, there is a beautiful Zen garden and a large second floor deck with distant views of the ocean. Indoors, there are two distinctly separate bedrooms. The primary bedroom is in a large lofted space in the main house with a toilet and sink attached (no door). The beautiful Japanese-inspired bathroom is on the first floor of the main house. The other large bedroom is in a separate space over the garage, which has been converted into a game room, complete with pool table, shuffleboard, TV, and mini fridge. The bathroom for this second bedroom has a toilet, sink, and small shower and is located off the game room (first floor). 2nd bedroom accessible via 2nd floor deck & external door at driveway.

The Zen House was private, quiet, and relaxing, while being a short drive to all there is to see and do in Yachats. We loved beating the heat on the Oregon coast, hiking, walking the beach, and enjoying all that town had to offer. Everything was so dog friendly - it was the perfect escape for us and our dog.

We spent the weekend at the Zen Beach House. A relaxing, private space. The soaking tub and sauna were fantastic. The bedrooms were lovely, private with nice open windows, very light. The best part is the beach, which is a short stroll to hit the sand and the beach is long, sandy with some great pebbles/streams for variety. My daughter saw a seal on the beach one morning. Very few people there. Clean.

This was the absolute best location for a reunion with an old friend for a few days. The house itself was a great setting and so comfortable. The second room being detached actually gave us more privacy at the end of the day, which was nice. We had great sleep and a great kitchen to cook in when we weren't hanging out at the coffee shop in town or out on the beach. I hope another friend reaches out to spend time in Yachats again soon, because I'd love to go back!

We really enjoyed our time at the Zen house. We appreciated the custom woodwork, the cleanliness and all of the interesting little details throughout. It’s a bit of an older home with a quirky layout but we loved it. It is clear they try to keep it well maintained. The deck is fabulous and provided a great view of the Perseids. The property is on a pretty wooded lot and they’ve been working on creating a Zen garden surrounding the firepit.

We stayed for three nights and it was lovely. The kitchen amenities were ample enough to get the job done and we really enjoyed the spa like bathroom with sauna and soaking tub. There was public beach access a short walk away and we were close to lots of hiking spots. If you're looking for a relaxing retreat by the water, this place is for you!

The house was great - close to the beach, and also a retreat itself, with a deep soaking tub and a sweet backyard, not to mention the cedar sauna, and glass-walled shower. The sunporch connecting the two bedrooms was a good space for hanging out. We're already ready to be back next year!

The first thing you notice is the smell of the place. Literally smells like relaxation. It was probably cedar but I’m going with “relaxation”. Beautiful lived in space, not plastic or generic. You can tell that a lot of love has gone into that place. Then on top of all that there’s a Japanese soaking tub. Nuff said. I’d give a third thumbs up if I had one.

The layout of the rooms might not suit families with small children, since the second bedroom is above the garage instead of in the main house. I mean this was just magical little wonderland. Had the best 4 days enjoying the beaches. Collecting agates. Carnelians. Checking out all the local attractions. There’s so much I am a carpenter and wood worker and I just love artistically designed homes and this was it. I just felt at peace the entire time I was here. Everything you need for a zen retreat.

The place was a great find - great beach nearby, relaxing sauna, great deck off the bedrooms, fun games, great forest roads for cycling very close. Pets allowed, and the kitchen is well stocked (the knives were even sharp). Coulda shoulda stayed longer.

The Zen House is a rare gem - gorgeous home with amazing features (basically an at-home spa experience: steam, soak, shower, repeat!) and an ocean-side setting. The home was so relaxing (even though it is close to the highway - you can hear traffic but it is not the least bit detracting from the experience) and the ocean waves can be heard crashing from the comfortable bed. The deck outside the master quite has several ocean-view areas for sipping coffee, having a lazy breakfast, or watching the sunset. Great hosts, wonderful home, enchanting Yachats and so many amazing Oregon beaches nearby, this home is A++, look no further! Counting the days til we can go back!

The Zen House. This will be my fifth year in a row staying with Sweet Homes Vacation Rentals on the central Oregon coast at Yachats. This time my husband and I are in the Zen House.

We love everything about this home--steps to the 7 mile beach, pet friendly, excellent spa, large bedrooms plus beautiful garden and fire pit. I highly recommend staying here or renting from Sweet Homes. Their customer service is outstanding.

We had a great time at the Zen House. The house is wonderfully decorated with Zen inspired architectural and artistic elements. The beach is just a block from the house! The house has a very nice bathroom with wondeful open shower, sauna and bath, and a nice deck upstairs to sit in the sun in the morning to sip a cup of coffee. I would definitely recommend staying here - you'll have a great experience.

This was our 2nd visit to the Zen Beach House in Yachats. As vacation rental hosts ourselves, we are rather picky about the places we stay. The Zen Beach House is beautiful, quiet, clean, and thoughtfully-equipped with everything a guest could want, ...and more. The meditation gardens are wonderful, and the furnishings and artwork are lovely. While the long empty stretch of beach beckons from only a block away, it's hard to leave the Zen Beach House bathing area, with its gas heater, Japanese soaking tub, glass-encased shower and cedar sauna. Exquisite!  Someone commented in the guestbook that the Zen Beach House was not just a house but an experience! We share this feeling, and very highly recommend a stay here.

This year was our third week-long stay at Zen Beach Retreat--and it is a true retreat for us, leaving the fast pace of city life once we enter the door. The high ceilings, wood and windows give this house such a serene atmosphere. The biggest draw is definitely the soaking tub. Very unique room design, with the feeling of soaking in the outdoors while actually being cozy inside the house. Not to be missed. Many pluses here: the deck, the glass block shower, sauna, and separate studio bedroom. Oh, and the, garden and well equipped kitchen! We ended up cooking almost all our meals, really relaxing rather than spending time driving into town to wait for tables. It's a best kept secret that the house is a super short walk to one of the very best strolling beaches in Oregon. Great, flat expanse where you will have plenty of space to enjoy the ocean view. Best of all, our dog can join us for our stay. The house is very well maintained and clean - there's a pretty comprehensive guide to the house left for guests and it's been very useful. We had fast response from the property manager regarding a change to the lockbox. Our recent experience was wonderful - has been every visit. We're already planning the next time.

This house was such a lovely retreat for us. It was quiet, close to the beach, lovely tub and sauna, and just generally cozy:-) It was also very close to nearby towns that offered wonderful dining and fabulous seafood. I would definitely recommend this beautiful house on the Oregon Coast!

This house was clean and well-maintained. We really researched our options before choosing this home for our stay at the coast, and this home delivered. We liked being a very short walk to the beach. The home worked well for us and our 2 young children (7 month old and 3 year old). They actually slept in the walk in closet off the main bedroom and it worked great! Grandma and Grandpa joined us and stayed above the garage. They were very pleased with their room, and the separation from the main house was also some nice privacy. The locals in Yachats were so welcoming and friendly. We especially enjoyed the food/music at the Drift Inn. We loved seeing Devil's Churn at high tide, and did some hiking in Cape Perpetua. We would definitely recommend this home to friends and relatives.

As an antidote to kitschy beach decor, this home exudes peace and comfort. The sauna and tub are the perfect place to recover from a long beach walk, though we also brought bikes and headed up the lovely Yachats River Rd. The beach nearby was nicer than expected, partly because we had calm, clear weather. If reviews could hold a photo, I'd include the shot of a surprised deer in the garden, eying me over the bushes. Highly recommended, thanks for sharing.

The Zen Beach House was the perfect place for a week of reflection and rejuvenation. The house is so Zen, with lovely details, and the energy of the place was just what we were hoping for. The wood-burning stove, the sauna, the soaking tub and the lovely glass block shower made us feel pampered without leaving the house! The beach is close enough that we could hear the waves crashing each night. The Zen House is completely private and very serene and peaceful. Hard to leave, but we intend to return at the next opportunity.

We spent hours online searching for a rental house on the central Oregon coast that would provide for a peaceful, relaxing & romantic New Years Eve... a place that was also within walking distance to a nice beach, where dogs were permitted, and it had to be clean and well kept up. When we walked into the Zen House, I fell in love! It was all of these things, and even better than I had hoped for. We enjoyed a beautiful, warm fire every night. The bed was very comfortable and clean. We walked for miles with our dogs on the beach just down the street, and we went golfing in Florence at Sandpines (which was very nice course though very cold and windy). My favorite thing was the spa / bathroom. The house was design with such care and attention to details. I highly recommend the Zen House. We will definitely return!

An amazing house next to a very wonderful beach. Although this property is not ocean front it is a gem! The spa in the house is heaven, very beautiful. We spent a lot of time in there relaxing, soaking, sweating. You basically have your own spa inside a very sweet little house. The bed is ubber comfy and the kitchen is very functional. The garden is really sweet and full of birds.

The Zen house was exceptional. Everything in the house was just right including the comforting energy of the space. Our favorite was soaking in the Japanese tub, taking a sauna and then a shower in the outdoor like setting. Just steps away from a perfect beach a nice long walk every morning really set the tone. The owners are very accommodating and friendly. We will definitely stay here again!
